Increasing Number of Sharks on South Carolina Beach

In the last week of June and first week of July 2015, news were circulating about discovery of sharks in Myrtle Beach in South Carolina and this news got attention on social media such as Facebook and Twitter. There are a number of sharks in bathing areas as shown in the picture and it is alarming for future beachgoers. According to WMBF, a Myrtle Beach television station published an article entitled as Shark expert clears misconceptions about recent shark bites. Charleston marine biologist Arnold Postell spoke to the WMBF that it is possible that sharks were appeared for finding foods in the bathing areas at the Myrtle Beach. Some days ago, a man was bitten by the sharks at the Outer Banks in North Carolina, another victim found at Hilton Head in South Carolina. Both injured were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Sharks on South Carolina BeachAt the start of this month, two more incidents happened at the same day. Both of them were teens and both lost their arms bitten by a shark in Oak Island, North Carolina. Arnold Postell said that sharks are not coming out to eat humans, but simply this was happened mistakenly and he says it is incorrect to call it as Shark Attacks. WMBF further added that the risk of shark bites could increase significantly and officials should take some steps to issue alerts on such beaches or these beaches should be closed for a significant amount of time. Now, some Low-country beaches are being closed or banned temporarily for fishing due to recent incidents.
