Google and Samsung will create Health Connect and APIs to Sync Fitness Data

Google and Samsung will create Health Connect and APIs to Sync Fitness Data

Tech giants Google and Samsung have teamed up to create Health Connect, Application Programming Interface, and a platform. It provides a toolset for developers to synchronize the health data of a user between Android apps and multiple devices.

This process would make it possible for users to keep track of their fitness and health data throughout various different platforms. Developers can organize users’ health data in an encrypted hub (located on a user’s device) when a user participates.

Google said it will offer full control to users for sharing data according to the specific apps. Moreover, users can select sharing data with one app over the others if more apps are receiving similar data. Keep in mind that Health Connect supports up to 50 data types in a number of classifications.

Access to Correct & Optimized Health Data

These categories include sleep, activity, vitals, body measurement, nutrition, and cycle tracking. The executive vice president of Samsung, Tae Jong Jay Yang issued a press statement. He said the company is working along with Google and others taking the full potential and advantages of Health Connect.

Yang also confirmed that Samsung Health will also bring up Health Connect during the current year. Yang said it would allow app developers to get the benefit of correct and customized measured data after users’ permission.

These types of optimized data were measured on the Galaxy Watch for Samsung Health for using it in their apps. However, Health Connect is now accessible in an open beta version for all Android developers. Google is also working on an early access program with the developers of Leap Fitness, Withing, and MyFitnessPal.

Pixel Watch & Android-powered Tablet

Both Google Fit and Google-sustained Fitbit are seeking to foster Health Connect. It clearly indicates the release of the Pixel Watch with the tech could arrive soon. However, Google has obtained a perfect position due to its open thoughts about its products.

The Health Connect API is considered an excellent example of Google’s approach to working closely with other companies. It is important that Google doesn’t push users into its environment like Apple and Samsung. But the company was found to attract people with Android Tablet and Pixel Watch.

Google could begin motivating users toward its products if the company needs to sell its extending Pixel devices. The company also announced its plan to launch an Android-powered tablet in 2023.

Android 12L, Google Wallet, and Google Maps

The Android-powered tablet could become a perfect partner for Pixel. However, Android 12L is focused on large-screen experiences, but Google is seeking to get into tablets again. Google effectively worked over its plans for Android 13 and the next version of its mobile OS software.

Moreover, the company is offering Material You themes to more areas. It would enable users to manage apps in different languages. The company is also adding some new privacy and security features. However, Google is refreshing its Wallet app to hold your payment cards, passes, vaccination records, program memberships, and many more.

This app is designed for the age of digital identity. Google is now adding an advanced mode to Maps. The new addition is actually a Street View from the sky in specific cities. Now, people can get an overview of their desired location to find a better view from the sky.
