A website “That Viral Feed” published an article on 24th August 2016 and reported that the government of the United States has planned to impose a permanent ban on Americans for playing the most popular mobile game Pokémon Go. This article and various other similar contents were published on several other social media websites and became a viral shared item on Facebook. The earliest version of this news was supposedly published on 22nd August 2016 with a misleading and misspelling title “U.S Plans to Ban Pokemon Go Permanantly”. Some websites also indicated that the U.S government announced recently that government is thinking to ban Pokémon Go for forever because the recent incidents of hacking were happened.

It has been confirmed that the Energy & Commerce Committee of the U.S House of Representatives delivered a letter to Niantic on 19th July 2016, but it was about ensuring players to inform appropriate effect of the game on their mobile data usage. They should ensure about safety and privacy related issues about the accelerated reality app. Any portion of the letter didn’t mention about sweeping nationwide ban on this popular game Pokémon Go. A tech website “engadget.com” indicated that the company said that a few things have been rearranged in its back-end and it can reverse bans on a Small Subset of accounts. But, it will not be applied to accounts doing nothing wrong while remotely accessing & capturing Pokémon, grabbing supplies from Pokéstops and participating in gym battles. It would be implemented to those violating activities of its terms-of-service.
