The Washington Post published a report on President’s daily COVID-19 White House briefing

Some analysts have indicated that US President Donald Trump spent more time admiring himself and attacking his enemies than he did expressing sympathy for Covid-19 victims during daily White House news briefings over coronavirus response. It comes as more than 56,000 Americans have now died from the Covid-19 disease. Point to be noted that the US death count is now bigger than any other nation in the world. Analysis has shown the president dedicated only 4.5 minutes out of 13 hours to offering condolences to American coronavirus victims. Trump devoted at least twice as much time to promoting the unproven anti-malarial drug that Americans were cautioned against using by the US Food and Drug Administration.

The daily press briefings of US President also included 2-hours spent attacking others, some 27 times the time he spent apologizing to victims. He spent 45 minutes admiring himself and his administration, within 13 hours. President Trump has spoken for more than 28 hours over the course of 35 briefings delivered from the White House since March 16. It is noteworthy that White House officials and members of the coronavirus task force were on stage for 40% of the time. The analysis of 3-weeks of White House coronavirus briefings was carried out by the data analytics company Factba.se and The Washington Post.

The analysis report came after weeks of combative daily coronavirus briefings between White House reporters and the president. Trump’s criticism of media on Saturday, came to a head as he suggested he would stop delivering the briefings following the widespread backlash against his suggestion on Thursday that Americans could inject themselves with disinfectant to weaken the coronavirus. President Trump wrote on Twitter and said, “What is the purpose of having White House News Conferences when the Lamestream Media asks nothing but hostile questions, & then refuses to report the truth or facts accurately. They get record ratings, & the American people get nothing but Fake News. Not worth the time & effort!”
