The racist language of the U.S President Donald Trump was strongly condemned by the U.S House of Representatives. Some Democrats renewed calls to launch impeachment proceedings against Trump. The proceedings underscored the toxicity between Democrats outraged by the remarks of Trump. But, Republicans have declined to condemn the U.S President. The U.S House denounced the president’s recent comments regarding 4 congresswomen, all of them women of color. On Tuesday afternoon, House voted and passed 240 – 187. The House approved a resolution and said: “Donald Trump’s racist comments have legitimized fear and hatred of new Americans and people of color”.

The House strongly condemned remarks of Trump and said how “our fellow American immigrants and those who may look to the president like immigrants should ‘go back’ to other countries”. The resolution was passed after the president launched a series of attacks both on social media and in public appearances, against 4 Democratic congresswomen. These 4 representatives are New York’s Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, and Rashida Talib of Michigan. All these women, dubbed “The Squad” by U.S media, are among the most progressive of those members congress elected in the 2018 midterms. They have been outspoken about Trump and members of their own party.

On Monday, Trump spoke at the White House and asked about his comments. Trump said, “As far as I’m concerned if you hate our country if you’re not happy here, you can leave”. It is noteworthy that Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, and Rashida Talib were born in the United States. Ilhan Omar came in the U.S 2 decades ago as a refugee from Somalia and working progressively for the United States. But, Trump called to “go back” to their countries. Trump tweeted that his comments had not been racist but that the remarks of the four congresswomen had been. He also claimed they had been anti-Semitic and supported Al-Qaeda.
