A Facebook page “The Original Wake up People” posted a meme on 15th February 2016. This page republished an old meme and claimed a statement allegedly declared by Russian President Vladimir Putin. This meme claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin warned the U.S President and his administration for the implementation of social democracy. Putin said that sensible people and history students know very well that history indicates the democracy has been rejected in most of the countries. He added that the U.S President and his democratic fellows are basically destroying economy of the United States.
We have investigated regarding this meme and we found that it is not an original statement regarding the Russian President Putin. The above displayed statement circulated online on most of the social media websites since 2009 in various forms and most often in the form of meme such as the attached image in this post. This image was initially published by a fake news website “Scooter’s Report”. This website is well-known for publishing false news and often publishes anti-Obama news and stories. The disclaimer of the website stated that it is important to tell you that the meme is satire and any kind of similarity to names, persons or events to be considered as unplanned and accidental.
